Memberium Bumps Minimum Required PHP Version to PHP 7 – Ends Support for PHP 5.2 – 5.6

This Article Applies to

At the end of this year, 2019, Memberium will be dropping support for anything below PHP 7. As of January 1, 2020 new Memberium versions will require PHP 7 or higher.

Why the change?

The oldest supported version of PHP by the PHP Group is PHP 7.1. PHP 7 was released 3 years ago and is not supported by the PHP Group anymore.

PHP 5.6 was released over 5 years ago.

For more information on supported PHP versions, visit https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php

What do I need to do?

First, check which PHP version you’re running.

You can do this by going to Memberium > Support > Dashboard and scrolling down:

If the version displayed is 7.0 or above, there is nothing you need to do at all.
If the version is below 7.0, reach out to your web host and ask them to upgrade your PHP version.  Here’s an example of what you can send them:

Hello,

I am reaching out to request you upgrade the PHP version on my site to a minimum of PHP 7.0.

I’d prefer PHP 7.3 if that is an option.

Thank you

Memberium eCommerce Settings

The Memberium eCommerce Settings Dashboard enables you to take your subscription management to the next level. Unlike other plugins, this capability is provided as a core part of Memberium to ensure that you have a complete and coherent experience. This dashboard gives you the capability to determine what happens when various actions are taken through the invoice and subscription managers built into Memberium. You can specify both Campaign Builder Goals, and Legacy Action Sets. We have deliberately decided to not support tags, as you can apply tags through either Goals or Actionsets.

Chris shares his advice on how you can overcome this problem and talks about the right way to approach launching an online course when you’re just getting started.

Throughout this episode, Chris shares a ton of useful nuggets you can use to improve your online course or membership site. He discusses the importance of using feedback loops to improve the outcomes for your students and ultimately make your online course more successful.

Using Memberium from behind a Proxy or Firewall

Memberium requires the ability to send and receive data to the web to operate, both to communicate with your Infusionsoft app and to connect to our License Server. When operating in a locked down or high security environment, you may need to take extra steps. If you do not have direct access to send data to the internet, your IT Department likely has an HTTP Proxy such as Squid, or NginX configured.
