What are PAYF, CANC, and SUSP Tags?
Every Membership level in Memberium consists of one main access tag. When a member has this tag, Memberium grants them the Membership level associated with the tag. For the purposes of this explanation, Let’s say we have a Gold tag that’s associated with a “Gold Membership” level.
Under the Membership level settings, you’ll notice three other tags. The PAYF, CANC, and SUSP tags. If a member has one of these tags, Memberium will treat that member as not having the membership level. In other words, this allows you to remove a members access.
You may be wondering why not just remove the access tag? The benefit of using these tags is two-fold.
- Using these tags will give you quick context as to why the member doesn’t have access. For example, if you see the CANC tag, you can assume the user cancelled their subscription. If they have the PAYF tag, then their payment failed.
- The other huge benefit is that you can set up separate login homepages for each of these tags. If a member has a PAYF tag, you can have Memberium take them to a different PAYF homepage when they log in. This page could let them know their payment failed and direct them to update their credit card to resume access. This reduces your support burden and provides a seamless customer experience.
Where do I set them up?
If you have created your Membership level using Memberium, we likely already set these up for you.
To see the current tags assigned to a Membership level, go to Memberium > Memberships and then click “Edit” next to the level you’d like more info on.
From there, you can see the tags associated with the level:
In the screenshot above, the PAYF tag is “GoldPAYF” and the tag ID in Infusionsoft is 124.
If you don’t see any tags listed already, you can simply create new tags through Memberium and then select them in the dropdown. The best way to create new tags is to go to Memberium>Memberships and use the Tag Builder Pro like I’m showing below:
How can I use them?
All three tags do the same thing: revoke a member’s access to a membership level.
We typically see customers set these tags up in billing automations so that when a member’s payment fails, Infusionsoft automatically applies this tag to their record removing their access to the content.
